Recently the goat cheese Maxorata from Fuerteventura was voted as the world’s best cheese during the international cheese championship “the World Cheese Awards 2014” in London.
The paprika cheese Maxorata joins a long line of Canarian cheeses and wines that have received international awards for their excellent quality.
The cheese got medal “Super Gold” in competition with 2600 other cheeses from around the world and this is the tenth Spanish cheese that has received this award. Every sixth cheese that has received this award comes from Spain.
According to cheese producers in Fuerteventura, the secret behind the great flavor is that goats are grazing freely on the island. The salty grass that grows along the coast, gives a very special flavor to goat cheese.
