Spanish restaurant best in the world

The Spanish restaurant El Celler de Can Roca in Girona on the Costa Brava has reclaimed the title as the world’s best restaurant.

They passed the previous leader, the Danish restaurant Noma, which fell to third place. The Italian restaurant Osteria Francescana of Modena ended in second place. Spain has seven representatives in the top 50 on the list, Mugaritz in San Sebastian is in sixth place.

The list is compiled by the British magazine Restaurant gourmet and placement on the list is determined by a vote procedure among more than 1,000 chefs, restaurateurs, critics and gourmands. The list was first published in 2002 and has since come out annually, most recently published 1 June this year.
