Spanish PM ousted in no-confidence vote

Partido Popular’s Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, has resigned today after he lost in a no-confidence vote.

Following a corruption scandal where 29 of Partido Populair’s members were recently convicted, the Socialist Party leader Pedro Sanches promoted a no-confidence vote against the prime minister.

Rajoy is the first Spanish prime minister who has lost a no-confidence vote in Spain since democracy was introduced in Spain in 1977.
