You may not associate Spain with skiing, but Spain has many wonderful ski resorts. One of the best is Sierra Nevada and opening date for the 2015/2016 season is Saturday November 28th.
Sierra Nevada Ski Resort, with the same name as the mountain range, is located in Andalusia in southern Spain with Granada as the nearest town. Here are some twenty peaks over 3000 m. The highest peak Mulhacén measures 3,482 meters and is the highest mountain on the Iberian Peninsula. The ski resort of Pradollano is facing south at about 2,100 meters altitude, protected by the mountain chain’s second highest peak Veleta (3,395 m.)
It is also Europe’s southernmost ski resort, only 27 km from Granada. It is not very far from the coast up to the ski resort, from Motril on the Costa Tropical it is less than 100 km and from Malaga on the Costa del Sol it is about 160 km.
During the opening weekend they have many specials offers and they last until December 2nd 2015:
Lift ticket: Adults € 20, adolescents € 18 and children € 16. Besides it is free parking (even in the parking garage).
