Violation of building regulations is being punished by a fine of 178,500 euros. Additionally the beach bar is being threatened by yet more sanctions from the coastal authorities.
The popular beach bar Magia Beach in La Manga (Murcia) has been visited by tennis player Nicolás Almagro, famous artists like David Bustamente and also president of FC Barcelona, Joan Bartomeu. But according to the newspaper La Verdad, the visit from San Javier municipality is the one that owners will remember best.
Last week the owners received information that the municipality has proposed a penalty of 178,500 Euro for not having followed the municipal regulations. It was on July 3rd this year that they applied for the opening license and without waiting for an answer, the beach bar opened its doors 24 hours later. The construction had been going on for some time and already on June 24th, the local police had filed a complaint on what they suspect to be illegal construction.
But now also the coastal authorities are protesting against the beach club, a club that was one of the region’s largest meeting areas this summer. The Authorities consider that Magia Beach is restricting access to the beach in an improper manner. There is now only access to the beach by walking through the club so the beach appears to be private. This is contrary to the coastal law that guarantees public access to all beaches and prohibiting private beaches.
