The four largest treatment plants on the Costa del Sol will receive investments of 1.7 million Euro to improve the ability to recycle wastewater.
It is about improving the ability to irrigate golf courses with reclaimed wastewater thereby ensuring deliveries to homes. This reduces the dependence of the reservoir of La Concepcion and use of valuable ground water. The project involves the treatment plant Guadalmansa (Estepona), La Cala de Mijas, Cerro del Águila (Mijas) and Arroyo de la Miel (Benalmádena).
The relevant measures are mainly improvements in distribution capacity for water. Today there is a lack of pumping capacity and in many cases the pipelines are too weak. But also some computer equipment to control the distribution will be replaced and the communication with the golf courses will be improved. There will also be installed automatically analyziation of the amount of chlorine mm. to be used in order to have better control of the quality.
The schedule for the project is 7 months, of which four and a half months spent on renovation and two and a half months for controls and adjustments.
