The tourist industry on the Costa del Sol is expecting a good summer after an Easter with a hotel occupancy above 80 percent, which was better than last year.
Association the Hoteliers on the Costa del Sol (Echos) today reported that average hotel occupancy in the Málaga province was 82% during Easter, which is 2% higher than last year. The tourism industry considers Easter as a “thermometer” for how the summer is going to be, so now the entire industry is looking towards the summer season.
If we look closer at the numbers, we see that from Palm Sunday to Wednesday the occupancy was 77% and from Maundy Thursday to Easter Saturday, it was 88%. Looking at the city of Malaga the occupancy was at an incredible 95% during the most important days and 87% on average for the entire Easter week.
Aehcos which is the union of the hotels in Malaga province has 350 affiliated establishments and 85% of the province’s hotels are members of the organization.
