There are very few public Christmas trees in Spain of real spruce. But the Christmas tree in Torrevieja is a shining exception. It comes from the deep forests of Småland in Sweden.
The Christmas tree was lit according to tradition this Sunday and the event was attended by hundreds of People. It is the twelfth consecutive year that Plaza de la Constitución in Torrevieja is endowed with a Swedish spruce. This year, as several years earlier, it is Per Erik Person and his company Persson Åkeri who pay for both the Christmas tree and transport. Per Erik lit Christmas tree himself.
True to tradition, there was a lot of activities, serving of hot dogs, mulled wine and gingerbread. The children’s choir from the Scandinavian school and Coro Nordico performed Spanish and Scandinavian carols.
