The traditional August fair in Coín is being celebrated from 9th to 15th of August. This is the second fair in the town as Coín also has a spring fair every year
The fair is being held in honor of the patron saint “Ntra. Sra. De la Fuensanta” whose day is on August 15th and is always a local bank holiday. The celebration has been going on since 1765, when King Carlos III gave the city permission for the celebration.
During these days the city is being transformed into a vibrant meeting place, not only for residents, but for people from all the surrounding towns. A number of bars open in the streets between Alameda and Parque San Agustín and many other activities, contests, sports events and entertainment takes place.
In the evenings the fair moves out to the fairground which is within walking distance from downtown. There you can eat and drink and there are a number of attractions for all ages. The last day ends with a “multiplicity mass” in honor of the patron saint in Plaza Bermúdez de la Rubia, which continues with a nightly procession, and finally the celebration concludes with traditional fireworks.
Coín is located 24 km from Fuengirola, 26 km from Marbella and 36 km from Malaga. There are regular buses from all these cities, as well as from many other nearby cities and the timetable is available here.
