As a variation from all the news about the election, here are some updates on some of the more interesting projects that are underway on the Costa del Sol.
The promenade which when finished will go along the Costa del Sol is progressing largely according to plan. Mijas municipality has developed a guide that covers Mijas municipality’s part of the route. It gives information about what is available along the trail, shops and other facilities walkers may enjoy knowing. The guide has been published in 40,000 copies, half of them in Spanish and the other half in English, and there is also a digital version (so far only available in Spanish).
Estepona municipality has had to wait a while for a building permit for parts of their boardwalk, but now they have finally been given permission to two important pieces of the route: The distances between Alcazaba Beach, Pinillos and the stretch between Kempinski Hotel and Laguna Village shopping center. These routes are now being placed on public tenders and the budgets are respectively € 60,000 and € 452,000.
We have previously written an article about the promenade, it can be read here:

Success in Estepona
While talking about Estepona let’s not forget the new orchid house. It opened two months ago and has already had 100,000 visitors! They had planned that they would reach this number of visitors during the year, so one can truly speak of a success. Here you can can admire 8,000 different plant species. The investment was 2.3 million Euro.
Here is a previous article about this project, which is a collaboration with Malaga:
