An unknown fish is biting bathers on the Playa Levante beach in Benidorm. Currently it is not known what kind of fish is causing bites.
There are reports of about 30 cases each day and it is especially the elderly and people with moles and small wounds that are being affected. The bites are not particularly large and as far as known they are not dangerous. El Instituto de Ecología Litoral and the municipality is currently investigating what kind of fish that may be behind the bites.
The warm autumn in large parts of Spain means that many are still dipping in the sea in Benidorm and in the rest of the Costa Blanca, but also Costa del Sol has had a fantastic autumn so far.
