Orihuela Costa - Spain

Orihuela is a very traditional inland Spanish town and is the capital of the Vega Baja area of Alicante. During the boom of the late nineties/early “noughties”, a satellite town sprang up along the beautiful coasts that belonged to this municipality but that had previously been virtually undeveloped. Houses, shops, bars, schools, police stations and eventually its very own Civic Centre quickly sprang up to replace the lemon groves and open spaces, accommodating the huge number of immigrants that flocked in from all over Europe. This is the area known as the Orihuela Costa, an area popular both for living and holidaying, and unrivalled in its facilities, choice of bars and restaurants, beautiful beaches and easy accessibility to both Alicante and Murcia airports. The London inspired shopping Centre La Zenia Boulevard opened its doors in the autumn of 2012 and this has only added to its popularity as a holiday destination and the perfect place to live all year round.
